Coming 2 America is the sequel we have been waiting 33 years for and it’s finally here! The cast looks like they have travelled back in time, looking as youthful as they were more than three decades ago.
Set in the lush and royal country of Zamunda, Prince Akeem is now newly crowned King Akeem (Eddie Murphy) and his trusted confidante Semmi (Arsenio Hall) embark on an all-new hilarious adventure that has them traversing the globe from their great African nation to the borough of Queens, New York where it all began.
Original cast favourites from Coming to America return including King Jaffe Joffer (James Earl Jones), Queen Lisa (Shari Headley), Cleo McDowell (John Amos), Maurice (Louie Anderson) and the motley barbershop crew. Joining this star-studded ensemble are Wesley Snipes, Leslie Jones, Tracy Morgan, Jermaine Fowler, Bella Murphy, Rotimi, KiKi Layne, Nomzamo Mbatha and Teyana Taylor.

Without Remorse is another Amazon Prime Video original featuring actor and producer, Michael B. Jordon. Michael B. Jordan stars as John Clark, an elite Navy SEAL who uncovers an international conspiracy while seeking justice for the murder of his pregnant wife who is murdered. This anticipated film is one to put in the diary, you won’t want to miss it!

Life in a Year | 12 March
Get the tissue box ready, this romantic drama follows 17-year-old Daryn (Jaden Smith) who finds out that his girlfriend is dying. He sets out to give her an entire life in the last year she has left. The father son duo is back in this newly released film, but this time Will Smith is working behind the scenes as the executive producer. This tragic romance is magnificently beautiful and emotional watch.
There are some great cast members, including Cuba Gooding Jr who stars as Daryn’s father, Xavier. Nia Long is also part of the cast.
Get Hard | 21 March
Get Hard is a hilarious comedy starring Kevin Hart as Darnell Lewis who helps white millionaire James King (Will Ferrell) prepare for jail after being found guilty of fraud. The catch? Darnell Lewis is a law-abiding citizen and has never even received a parking ticket and as Darnell helps James on his ‘get hard’ discovery they both learn they were wrong about many things, including each other.
If you love witty and silly comedies and need a good laugh, this one ticks all boxes.
One Night in Miami… | Available now
One Night in Miami is a fresh new drama that provides an insight into some monumental historical figures. This is Oscar-winning actress, Regina King’s directional debut and she killed it with this one, showing everyone she is multi-talented and has tricks up her sleeve!
The film is a fictional account of one incredible night where icons Muhammed Ali (Eli Goree), Malcolm X (Kingsley Ben-Adir), Sam Cooke (Leslie Odom Jr) and Jim Brown (Aldis Hodge) gather to discuss their roles in the civil rights movement and cultural upheaval of the 60s. This is a film that has something to say about racism, with four historical figures speaking their truth in a hotel room.
This is a gripping exploration of racism, with many themes still relevant to today’s society.
Godfather of Harlem Season 2 | 1 April
Godfather of Harlem is a gripping crime series set in the 60s, that lets us into the secrets of the drug empire. Infamous crime boss Bumpy Johnson (Forest Whitaker) returns home after 10 years in prison, to find the streets he once ruled have been taken over by the Italian mob. To take back control of his streets, Bumpy must take down the Genovese crime family.
The highly rated crime series has been approved for a second season and it will be available to watch on Amazon in April.
The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency | Available now
This five-star rated series is the screen adaptation of Alexander McCall Smith’s twenty-one novel book series of the same name and originally a BBC and HBO production.
Grammy award-winning actress, Jill Scott stars as the main character named Precious Ramotswe. The comedy-drama series follows the life of Precious as she fulfils her lifelong dream of opening up the country’s first female-owned detective agency.
Ambitions | Available Now
Ambitions is a family saga that explores Black love, power and politics in Atlanta. It centres around lawyer Stephanie Carlisle (Robin Givens), the wife of Atlanta Mayor Evan Lancaster (Brian J White), and her rivalry with Amara Hughes (Essence Atkins), a prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s Office who has just arrived in Atlanta with her husband, Titus (Kendrick Cross). Stephanie and Amara used to be best friends who find themselves combatants in both their personal and professional lives.
The cast is brilliant, and if you are into dramatic American soaps then you need to add this to your wish list.
