A new beauty expo for black women is set to launch on the scene this summer and by the looks of the promo video, this is definitely not one to miss!
Shades of Beauty Live, a two-day exhibition, is scheduled to take place during the busy carnival weekend (24 to 25 August 2018) in the UK and is expected to welcome more than 4,000 beauty and hair enthusiasts.
The event will showcase the latest trends in hair and beauty for women of colour in the UK. Founded by sister duo Grace Adesina and Christina Anyiamuka, the British born Nigerian business women decided to launch a show they knew they would like to attend themselves but hadn’t been able to as no show in the UK/Europe beauty scene catered to their needs.
Christina Anyiamuka, said: “We do see some shows for women of colour but very few on a grand scale. Women from an African Caribbean descent spend around 80% more on cosmetics and twice as much on skincare as their non-afro Caribbean counterparts. More and more brands are becoming available online and showcasing their diverse product ranges and it will be great to bring these brands to life by giving them, as well as the traditional bigger brands, a platform to meet with their customers and introduce themselves to new ones.”
The show will feature live panel discussions with hot topics and visitors will hear from key beauty influencers, entrepreneurs and celebrities. Giving us a flavour for what to expect, a promo video is already doing the rounds on social media. It features a host of popular social influencers including beauty and lifestyle influencer Shantania Beckford, natural hair influencer Jay from Curlture, beauty influencer King Shxy and lifestyle influencer Hannahtheamputee, alongside Senor Fenty, Melachild, Ghanaian Curls.
However, visitors will be star of the show. Guests will be treated to live demos, free goodies, makeovers and exclusive discounts from their favourite brands in the UK and abroad.
Grace Adesina, said: “Visitor experience is paramount to us. We want our guests to enjoy every aspect of the event, from the panel discussions, the products to the food and drink and live entertainment. We want this to be the ultimate girls day out.”
