Based on the 1963 science fiction book by American writer Madeleine L’Engle, the movie won’t hit cinema screens until 9 March 2018, but we can wait for what we’re sure will be a visual masterpiece.

The film is about Meg Murry (played by newcomer Storm Reid), a high-school-aged girl who is transported on an adventure through time and space with her younger brother Charles Wallace and her friend Calvin O’Keefe to rescue her father, a gifted scientist, from the evil forces that hold him prisoner on another planet.

When asked about the film, Ava told the Hollywood Reporter, “I saw myself in it, and I saw so many different kinds of people in it.”

“A family story wrapped in an epic adventure where you see worlds you’ve never seen before.”

On the film’s diverse cast, she said she wanted to assemble a group of people “that looked like you, that looked like the real world.”
