Functional and stylish is the theme of popular high street fashion retailer Next and Denise Lewis OBE’s debut activewear range for Spring 2021.
Designed for busy lifestyles and women on the go, the Gold medal Olympian, who became a mum for the fourth time last year, is the perfect ambassador to lend her name to the high street brand’s latest activewear range.
The first ever Denise Lewis Edit for Spring 2021 features active and lounge wear essentials such as leggings, sports bras and breathable tops – all of which are available in sizes 6 to 22 or XS to XXL.
Before going public with the collaboration, Lewis road-tested the range for several months, and after giving her approval, is now proud to put her name to the range.
“I’ve been road-testing these pieces for months now.”
Lewis is one of the UK’s best loved sports presenters and a former track and field athlete. She won her gold medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and secured the title as a double Commonwealth Games champion and was the first ever European to win the Olympic heptathlon. Having left behind her previous hard-core fitness regime of working out alongside Olympic athletes, today, Lewis finds herself training with everyday women striving to reach their personal bests and the items in the range appear to have passed the test.
Lewis said: “I am seriously impressed with Next’s range of activewear – I’ve been road-testing these pieces for months now. From squat-proof leggings (which don’t fall down!) to sports bras fit for various workout types – there’s something for every shape and size.”
The debut Denise Lewis Edit range is made up of comfortable leggings and sports bras, as well as key athleisure staples including super soft sweaters, heavier weight hoodies and running shoes too. These comfortable wardrobe basics are exactly what busy mums on the go need, something you can throw on at the start of the day that is suitable for both working out and working from home.
Juggling a working life with children can be challenging, particularly in these Covid times, but, as Lewis says, you’ve just got to get on with it. She said: “I’m not even sure how I juggle being a mum of four kids. You’ve just gotta have a positive mindset and be really clear with what you want to get out of the day but know that you can’t fit everything in. Don’t beat yourself up!”

A wardrobe that ‘understands’ always helps. Denise has engineered her activewear edit for ‘the gym of life’ – whether that’s lunging to pick up toys or jogging to the school gates at 3pm. “What I love about activewear is that it’s easy. It doesn’t matter what time of the day I put it on. It’s simple. I can go to the gym, I can pick up the kids from school. It’s just comfortable and I feel good in it.”
