Women Of The Lens Film Festival is calling on Black British and international producers and filmmakers to nominate their films, web-series and broadcast productions in their upcoming digital festival, which takes place from 7 November to 28 November 2020.

In its fourth year, the Women Of The Lens Film Festival continues to celebrate the work of established as well as emerging filmmakers. In addition to British stories, Women Of The Lens Film Festival is keen to see representations of Black women, in front of and behind the camera from around the world, in keeping with their aim of throwing a spotlight on developing audience engagement with rarely seen images of Black women and to highlight and celebrate achievement and contribute to the wider discourse around race, diversity and media education.

“Women Of The Lens Film Festival is keen to see representations of Black women, in front of and behind the camera from around the world..”

Founder and director of the festival, Jennifer G. Robinson had this to say about this year’s event:

“Lockdown brought change and with that, new ways of communicating and congregating and connecting with each other – who knew what Zoom or Verzuz was just a few months ago! This year excitingly, Women Of The Lens Film Festival will be delivered online as a result of these new ways of reaching out. I look forward to seeing an era of filmmaking that is borne out of our ‘special’ times. Whilst we’ll be online, the same networking events will take place to connect audiences and industry and I look forward to revealing our exciting line-up.”

The festival will take place via a third-party online platform to be announced in the coming weeks.

Production submissions are via Filmfreeway. Submissions close on 30 October 2020.
