This awards season there was only one contender for the “Best Curated Ear” gong in our opinion and that was the talented actress, singer and song writer Cynthia Erivo.
Her performance as Celie in the Broadway revival of The Colour Purple won her a Tony Award in 2016 for Best Actress. More recently she depicted abolitionist Harriet Tubman in the 2019 big screen biopic of the same name in which she earned nominations for an Academy Award, a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award.
