Levi Roots is a man who wears many hats! Entrepreneur, creative and musician, the founder of the famous Reggae Reggae sauce has added cooking tutor to his repertoire after holding a Caribbean Cooking Masterclass at his ‘Rastarant’ earlier this month. We attended the first session on 3 October, and urge you not to miss his final class, taking place on Saturday 3 November 2018.

The setting of the masterclass is the Levi Roots Smokehouse, Westfield Stratford City. An early start, our group was welcomed with lovely beverages and a meet and greet from the man himself as we waited for the session to start.

Levi’s charisma and the aroma of the dishes as he cooked certainly held our attention. We were taught how to make various classic Caribbean dishes such as Ackee and Saltfish, Curry Goat and Jerk Chicken. We would advise you to bring your notepad and pen and feel free to ask as many questions as you wish, Levi will answer all of them.

Besides the food, we appreciated Levi’s cultural knowledge and his openness about sharing his experiences growing up in Jamaica. He also shared anecdotes and stories from his amazing journey so far, from Kingston to Brixton to Dragon’s Den to the present day. We left feeling like we knew a lot more about the man behind the public persona.

After cooking the dishes, guests were given full plates of the just-cooked dish to sample. We can report that everything was cooked to perfection.
