Many of us know the hardship of finding the right shade bra and hosiery to achieve the subtle illusion of ‘nude’ undergarments. The often ‘beige’ or black options that were available, didn’t quite cut it and so we’re thankful for the brands, such as Nubian Skin, that are specialising in real shades based on women of colour skin tones.
Since launching in October 2014, Nubian Skin has provided a carefully edited selection of lingerie and hosiery, helping to achieve a flawless profile under our clothes. The popular brand, which counts the likes of Beyoncé and Jourdan Dunn as customers, has recently launched their latest range, the Naked Collection.
The Naked Collection includes new silhouettes including the bandeau, slip, bodysuit, G-string, camisole and high-waisted brief, and is available in sizes XS – XXL in Nubian Skin’s signature range of nude colours: Berry, Cinnamon, Caramel and Café au Lait. In addition, there are two bra styles on offer; a molded fabric bra for the smaller cups (B-DD) and a fuller bust bra that has been carefully designed for the fuller cups (DD-G/I).
Nubian Skin was founded by Ade Hassan who, frustrated at the lack of skin tone options to go with her ever-expanding wardrobe, decided it was time for a ‘different kind of nude’. She said: “My nude isn’t the nude I see in shops. Despite the reality that women of colour have the same needs as all women when it comes to lingerie and hosiery, the industry simply doesn’t cater to us. So, I thought, it’s time to rethink the definition of nude.”
Today, the brand has achieved worthy success and popularity from women of colour across the world. Building on this, the Naked Collection range is now available at Nordstum.com, across USA and Canada. Ade said: “We have an incredible demand in the USA, so we are thrilled to be able to offer our customers the option to purchase online at their favourite department store! Nordstrom is a perfect fit for our brand, and they really understand our ethos. They have supported us since early on, so we’re incredibly excited to be working with them.”
