Now approaching its 4th birthday, Ade’s brand Nubian Skin has hit many milestones in just a few years – they’ve dressed the likes of Beyoncé, the West End, Broadway and Hollywood, started the conversation on ‘nude’ and diversity in fashion, opened a central London showroom and Ade has been awarded an MBE for her services to fashion – but it’s not all as glamourous as it may seem.
We’re big fans of Nubian Skin and their journey so we were really keen to hear Ade’s new TEDx talk, which reveals the less attractive side of being an entrepreneur – ‘The Reality of Reaching Your Goal’. Yes, it may mean being your own boss, but that’s no easy deed.
TEDxPeckham’s theme for the event was ‘A Seat at the Table’, and Ade’s talk was about creating your seat at the table and how to create a space within an industry when your particular interest isn’t even acknowledged.
Honest, powerful and inspirational, Ade shares her vulnerable story and journey about what it really means to be an entrepreneur. A must-watch, honest talk filled with inspiration and wisdom. Founder Ade Hassan notes, ‘It was truly such an honour to be asked to speak at TEDxPeckham. Creating your seat at the table isn’t easy, especially when there is no precedent. I really hope that sharing my story will provide value, encouragement and honesty to all budding entrepreneurs out there.’
