Looking for a different kind of break? We usually tend to head toward the sun, a little summer in the winter, but how about the other way around?

Discover the ICEHOTEL 365, featured in BBC Two’s Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond the Lobby, hosted by Giles Coren and Monica Galetti, pictured outside the hotel in Sweden. Introduced in the sixth and final episode, broadcast on 8 May 2017, the famous ICEHOTEL 365 in Swedish Lapland is – surprise – entirely made of ice!

For the first time this year, the hotel will open its doors to guests outside of the winter months, making it the first all year-round ice accommodation in the world.

Located 200 km north of the Arctic Circle, the ICEHOTEL 365 is one of the most unique places in the world with its rooms made of blocks of snow and ice, crafted by artists, architects and ice experts.

Yes, although the sound of sleeping in a room made of ice does not sound all that inviting, each room is equipped with a thick mattress and thermal sleeping bag to keep you warm in cosy.

Covered by a dome of grass and wildflowers, the hotel uses solar technology to maintain its sub-zero temperature and protect the construct from melting during the summer days when the sun does not set for 50 consecutive days.

Guest can simultaneously enjoy the summer weather cycling, river-rafting and fishing, as well as an ice bar and art gallery in the chilled ice palace.

So, how about it? Are you ready to exchange the sea and sand for ice and snow, and experience an incredible stay in a most unique place?
