We know how draining the working week can be, but here at Melan Magazine, we were lucky enough to jazz up a recent Tuesday evening with the soulful sound of The Voice’s 2014 winner, Jermain Jackman.

This month, 100 Wardour St began its Soho SoulTown series, we were intrigued when we previewed it, so we had to check it out – and we can say it was totally worth it! From honouring the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin, to getting the crowd to sing along to Amy Winehouse’s ‘Valerie’, Jermain stole the night with his seamless vocals.

Jermain did every song justice, while giving a truly mind-blowing performance, with the help of a brilliant live band. He wasn’t the only one to steal the show, the guitarist and drummer treated the crowd to an all too short instrumental of Luther Vandross’ ‘Never Too Much’, to end the evening. There was never a dull moment, as Jermain danced and chatted with the audience. We felt that he let us into his performance, and more importantly, his world, as he spoke about issues such as knife crime.

Like the music, the seasonal menu worked well, but, the main stars of the menu was the succulent Pork Chop with Chorizo and Kale, and the Crème Brulee. Did we mention the bottomless wine for £10? Also, expect excellent service, the waiters were attentive, always making sure our glasses were full.

Would we go again? Yes – and you should too! Not only will you be supporting upcoming talent, but you can enjoy a great meal too. Not only did Jermain win The Voice, but he won this performance too. Well done 100 Wardour St for a soulful night!
