The gang’s heading to Italy
Once again, the four couples embark on their annual marriage-building vacation, and this time they’re heading to the land of love, Italy. So, expect gorgeous scenery and fantastic locations.
Who returns to the cast?
Most of the core group returns in this latest instalment. Returning cast members include Tyler Perry (Terry) Jill Scott (Sheila) Tasha Smith (Angela) Michael Jai White (Marcus) Sharon Leal (Dianne) Lamman Rucker (Troy) Richard T. Jones (Mike).
An exciting new addition to the cast is Taraji P. Henson who plays a successful businesswoman (Roseline) who is also a long-time member of the core friend group. We are meeting her for the first time.
Janet Jackson (Patricia) does not return and neither does Malik Yoba (Gavin) for obvious reasons, being dead and all.
Reviewing Possession: “Plantation-based thriller with a side of the supernatural”
What is the plot?
The couples are reuniting for a celebration. Angela and Marcus invite their friends to Italy to witness their daughter Jasmine (Armani Greer) tie the knot with Wesley (Everett Osborne) the son of one of their best friends – Roseline.
Together once again, how much have they changed, and how much have they stayed the same? What type of role models have they been for their offspring?

What’s in the trailer?
Supposedly now older and wiser, (though still looking fabulous!), our couples are up to their usual tricks. Loud guffaws at Mike’s (Richard T. Jones) new wig, secret smooching among unexpected lovers behind closed doors and frank yet hilarious dialogue among the friends.
At the heart of the film is the disconnect between perception and reality. During the trip, the children of the couples are revealed to view their parents’ marriages as “so perfect”. This illusion is soon disputed when Sheila admits, “We didn’t tell you how unperfect we really are.” We soon find out that that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, when it’s revealed their children are more like them than they realised.
Will you be watching?
The energy and heart of the Why Did I Get Married? series is here once again. We’ll be watching for the laughs, the great cast and to see what our favourite couples and their children have been up to. In the trailer, Terry delivered the line: “This is what real love is. It’s ugly sometimes, it’s messy. But it’s beautiful and it’s worth it!” It’s apt that this statement could also describe the whole Why Did I Get Married? series too.
