LoveMyRead children’s curators are Frank Cottrell-Boyce and Malorie Blackman. Blackman who has recently become the recipient of the Bookseller’s third YA Book Prize Special Achievement Award, on the 20th anniversary of the first novel in her Noughts & Crosses series, described to Melan Magazine that she is really involved in the process. She is known to be incredibly passionate about getting kids of all backgrounds into reading for pleasure and believes that you can’t, and shouldn’t force a kid to pick up a book – they need to be inspired by what they’re interested in.

“LoveMyRead is something special. I just wish it had been around when I was growing up.”

Speaking to the Bookseller, Blackman, said: “Stories mean so much to me, they always have. When I was Children’s Laureate, my remit was to get children reading more and that’s still my mantra. It’s the reason I write and it’s the reason I love to read and recommend. Stories come in many forms and our aim over the coming months is to bring a wide selection of stories that will entertain and delight. LoveMyRead is something special. I just wish it had been around when I was growing up.”
