Insecure took us by storm in 2017 but Issa Rae, the protagonist and creator of the hit show, is still bringing the magic with not just one new TV series, but two, and we can’t wait.

Collaborating with HBO, Issa will be executive producing two projects, one being a half-hour comedy and another, an hour-long drama.

The half-hour comedy, Him or Her, will be a single camera series that follows the life of a bisexual black man through his complex relationships and his search for love.

The series will be co-executive produced by Travon Free of The Daily Show.

Sweet Life, the hour-long drama, tackles another exciting topic. Co-created by Issa herself and Raamla Mohamed, a producer for Scandal, the coming-of-age drama explores the life of rich teens growing up in the black Beverley Hills of Windsor Hills in LA.

If this idea sounds familiar to you then maybe it’s probably because Issa pitched it to us earlier this year via The New Yorker.

The actress and writer who won a Golden Globe, Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy, will still be working on Season 3 of Insecure which is set to make a return in the summer of 2018. As you know, we are huge fans of the show, and can’t wait to see what Issa, Molly and Lawrence have been up to.

As we write this, there’s no set release date for Him or Her and Sweet Life, but they’re both on our list of ‘must-watch’ TV in 2018.
