An entrepreneur and a multi-award-winning content creator with a following of more than four million fans across the globe, Patricia started her career as an investment consultant before going on to create her hugely successful YouTube channel ‘Patricia Bright’.

In recent years, followers have seen Patricia embark on a new direction to empower women to take charge of their financial destiny. In January 2020, she launched The Break Platform, the fastest growing YouTube channel on business, personal development and personal finance aimed at women wanting to catch their break, navigate life like a boss and make money moves. Caught Off Guard is the accompanying podcast of The Break Platform.

Speaking about her motivations for starting her latest platforms, in a recent interview with Grazia magazine, Patricia said: “I have an accounting degree and I worked in finance for five years but in my 20s, I still wasn’t in control of my personal finances…”

“I think a lot of people, we can have our degrees or jobs but don’t know how to function as real life adults. When it comes to personal finances, a lot of people go through life fumbling around until they face hardship.”

She created The Break Platform after realising that she couldn’t be the only one making financial mistakes and bad decisions.

Every week during the podcast, listeners hear real, honest, fun and unfiltered conversations between Patricia and her guests – who are all trailblazers in their own industries. Together they explore success, failure, money, relationships and everything in between with laughter along the way.

“When it comes to personal finances, a lot of people go through life fumbling around until they face hardship.”

Patricia has managed to collate a tribe of mentors from different industries and gets them to relay never heard before stories and dispense insights around careers, entrepreneurship, finances, wellbeing, health, beauty and lifestyle.

Each episode starts with an ‘iceshaker’ where Patricia breaks the ice by asking a series of unexpected questions. Next Patricia starts at the ‘base’ and finds out how each of her guests started out before pivoting to the main interview. Patricia gives her guests a quick workout in ‘Drop and Give Me 20’ where her set of quick-fire questions gets guests thinking fast and revealing more about how they think and what makes them tick. Lastly, she ends on ‘What In Your Wallet’ Patricia’s spin on the popular ‘What’s In My Handbag’ video series YouTube. One of the aims of the podcast is to normalise discussions about money and this section is where Patricia gets her guests to get candid and talk about their experiences handling money.

Season 2 of Caught Off Guard was recorded remotely, and features guests like the cover star of the 2020 Forbes 30 Under 30 2020 Akash Mehta to House of CB founder Conna Walker, social media influencer and NatWest’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year Grace Beverley, Alex Stedman award-winning founder of The Frugality, and US financial popstar Mrs Dow Jones.
