Multi award-winning hairdresser, Charlotte Mensah, ensured 2017 ended with a bang by winning Afro Hairdresser of The Year for a phenomenal third time at the annual British Hairdressing Awards (BHA), which took place on 27 November 2017.

This makes Charlotte Mensah, founder of the hugely popular Hair Lounge salon in Portobello Road, London, the first black female hairdresser to be inducted into the BHA Hall of Fame since it was established 34 years ago.

Charlotte’s award-winning Afrofuture collection is a visual treat. Bantu knots, twists and geometric afros were just some of the striking styles that gave Charlotte the edge over the other finalists. Winning the coveted award is fitting as Charlotte has over the past 20 years, established herself as not only the go to Afro hairdresser in the UK but also the number one authority on afro natural/curly hair.

Charlotte said:

“My Afrofuture collection represents everything that I stand for. Creative, powerful, strong and feminine, incorporating an array of styles that are both intricate and geometric.”

Congratulations Charlotte!
