Parents, as we gear up for the last half term of the year later this month (October), have you thought about how you’re going to entertain your kids?
With all the uncertainty and strife in the world, it may feel like a good idea to get away from it all and make some happy memories through a family holiday.
Coming up with the ideal holiday destination though is often easier said than done. Striking the right balance of fun activities for the kids and relaxation for the adults is key. Check out our recommendation of five destinations for you to consider.
Cornwall
With a drive time of about five hours, this destination feels like you’re actually going further away than the Cornish coast. Booking a luxurious self-catering accommodation will give you and your family that much-needed family time.
While the weather may be a little cool, at this time of the year, for dipping in the sea, there’s loads of great walking and cycling activities and wonderful attractions like the Eden Project and Newquay Zoo make great days out.
Valencia
If you’re looking for a holiday that guarantees you and your children a great time, look no further than Valencia in eastern Spain. Full of natural beauty and a wealth of leisure activities, it’s the perfect place for family fun on the Mediterranean Coast.
Soak up the sun by lounging on the Blue Flag beaches or visit the many natural parks. Alternatively, head to Turia Gardens in Valencia, one of Spain’s largest urban parks, for leisure and sports areas and romantic spaces to relax and unwind.
Maldives
If you want to go a little further afield, and create a holiday of a lifetime, Maldives takes some beating. The turquoise waters, white sands and friendly locals, means you can’t help but to have a great time. There are numerous family friendly resorts that offer natural living with five star comforts.
Greece
When it comes to the best family-friendly destinations in Europe, Greece is right up there. All-inclusive hotels and resorts are perfectly placed to cater to visitors. Add fine sandy beaches which stretch for miles on the edge of the sea and thousands of years of history, and you cant go wrong. Crete, the “Great Island” and Athens, the capital of Greece are delightful, but to experience Greece’s natural beauty, look no further than the Peloponnese.
Dubai
If you and your nearest and dearest love the heat, then Dubai could be the place for you. Temperatures in October hover around 36 degrees so be warned, it’s not for the faint hearted, but they do hotels and resorts very well there and you’ll have the perfect reason to spend the whole day in the pool with the kids. Expect luxury, excellent customer service and delicious food. Between the pristine beaches, five-star shopping malls and tourist attractions like the Burj Al-Arab and Burj Khalifa, there’s plenty to see and do.
