Fans of the late Aaliyah Dana Haughton are in for a treat as MAC have made good on their promise to launch a range inspired by the R&B Legend and they can get their hands on the makeup collection from June this year!

 Aaliyah superfans and beauty enthusiasts are understandably thrilled at this announcement. After a petition of 26,000 fans, including her friend Missy Elliot, her brother Rashad Haughton and her make-up artist Eric Fell, asked the makeup company to honour the legacy of Aaliyah with a collection.

In her 22 years, the star recorded three seminal R&B albums that all sold at least one million records, starred in a movie and influenced and entire generation of R&B music lovers in the 90s. R. Kelly, Ginuwine, Treach, Jermaine Dupri, Static Major, Missy Elliott, and Timbaland all got to work with the “One in a Million” singer and her legacy lives on to this day.

 

#AaliyahForMAC is set to launch this June and fans are going understandably wild for it.

Rashad Haughton, Aaliyah’s brother told change.org that the legendary singer loved MAC, especially the bestselling Chestnut liner as well as the eyeshadow shade, Espresso. Before her tragic death, Aaliyah was not only a music icon but a style icon too. Her hair, makeup and style was all symbolic of her era and the 90s-fashion movement. For her signature makeup looks, she mixed natural and earthy toned with glamorous glosses and beautiful glowing skin.

MAC have created an eyeshadow palette, lip colours and glosses, all in the nude colour spectrum. The packaging is a sumptuous burgundy with Aaliyah’s signature embellishing the products in gold.

The makeup brand alongside i-D are also calling out for super fans to star in the #AaliyahForMAC campaign film to promote the collection and celebrate her legacy. they said: ‘Calling all Aaliyah super fans! @i_D and @maccosmetics invite you to join us to participate in the A-Z of Aaliyah, a film celebrating her legacy.
