If you can’t wait to experience the magical spirit of the winter season, then you should check out Skylight, London’s rooftop après skate bar destination, which opened at the Tobacco Dock building in East London on Thursday 2 November.

A quick look around the city and you will see that London is more than ready for the festive season, with Christmas markets popping up all over the city, store windows getting glammed-up, and the usual skiing hangouts opening for business. But we’ve found you a neon-lit winter playground featuring London’s only rooftop skating rink.

Skylight: East London’s really cool hangoutThe venue features two outdoor bars and an indoor restaurant where there’s an essential winter meal listed on the menu: Melt Fondue, traditional French communal meal which consists of dipping pieces of bread into melted cheese. Probably the best comfort food you could aspire to get with the cooler weather. Sadly, we didn’t get to sample this as they ran out, but we heard it was great! And if you don’t fancy cheese, you’ll find a selection of street food and dessert available.

There’s a cozy atmosphere at Skylight and the space offers some cool and very affordable outdoor activities. You can ice skate for 45 minutes and enjoy an ice hockey shooting game for £3. The DJ was not about the Christmas vibes at all, but will happily share his playlist of edgy and contemporary music.

This spot is probably the go-to place for date nights in the city or after work drinks with friends. Say hello to your new social spot of the season.

Opening times:

Thursday – Friday: 5pm–11pm
Saturday – Sunday: Noon–11pm

Entry to Skylight is free.
