Fans of Sister Act, the cult musical comedy starring Whoopi Goldberg, are in for a treat this April. The classic film will get the ‘live cinema’ treatment courtesy of the “Sister Act Live Choir”, hosted by the Amacoast Cinema at London’s historic Central Hall Westminster.
Audiences have experienced popups and live cinema in recent years, as a new and creative way to relive classic stories and the movie favourite is the latest to join the trend. Sister Act Live Choir will be made up of 35 gospel singers and a full band performing songs from the film soundtrack. Amacoast Cinema has partnered with the Uplifter Voices choir for the show, with a special guest performance by “Volney Morgan and New-Ye”, as well as Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalists, Gospel Singers Incognito.
The musical tells the story of Vegas lounge singer Deloris Van Cartier, who, after witnessing a murder, enters a protection program in an unexpected place, a convent, where she finds her voice in the church choir.
“We intend to put on one of the most powerful and uplifting immersive live cinema experiences London has experienced”, says founder, Dele Aro. “It’s great to see Amacoast Cinema connecting large diverse groups of people together to share a unique experience and create new memories around film.”
Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased on Amacoast Cinema’s official website.
